Welcome to the Golden Swallow Blog

Welcome to the Golden Swallow Project, an effort to uncover the life history traits and conservation strategies surrounding the poorly known Golden Swallow (Tachycineta euchrysea) endemic to Hispaniola.  Please take a closer look at our Objectives page to gain a better understanding of our mission over the next few years.  Furthermore, we would like to acknowledge the hard work that has already been put into the study of the Golden Swallow by members of Cornell University’s Lab of Ornithology and the Dominican Republic’s NGO Grupo Jaragua.

We would like to strongly encourage everyone, from basic birders to advanced ornithologists to contribute their thoughts, knowledge, and encounters with the Golden Swallow to this blog.  We want to know what YOU know!

Our first field season will begin in early April of this year, 2012.  Continue to stop by this blog for updates, photos, and videos from the Cordillera Central of the Dominican Republic.

Thank you for your interest,

Justin Proctor (c.justin.proctor@gmail.com) and Marisol Mata Huertas (marisolmata@hotmail.com)
